Redefining Tissue Resection for BPH
Familiar workflow. Greater efficiency.
Resectus Medical is developing a new approach to transurethral resection for BPH. Our flagship technology is designed to enable more efficient removal of obstructive prostate tissue while building on the established TURP procedure.
Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH)
BPH is a non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate that can obstruct urinary flow as it compresses the urethra. For patients, something as routine as urination can progressively become a daily burden.

Transurethral Resection of the Prostate
Effective. Durable. Familiar.
TURP removes obstructive prostate tissue through the urethra using a resectoscope and electrosurgical loop.
Its established workflow and durable outcomes have made it a longstanding standard in the surgical treatment of BPH.
TURP remains the most commonly performed surgical procedure for BPH globally.
As prostate size increases,
so does the resection burden.
Larger glands require more tissue removal, extending the demands placed on an established resection workflow.
Where the established workflow is challenged.
Bleeding and
Visualization
Bleeding can impair visualization and make it more difficult to maintain a clear operative field.
Time-Consuming
Procedure
Larger prostates can require longer resection times, greater surgeon effort, and greater procedural resources.
Technical
Demand
Anatomical constraints of rigid resectoscope systems can make resection more difficult in larger glands.
Enhanced Prostatic Resection (EPR)
Greater Tissue Engagement
Anatomy-aligned resection
Improved Visualization
